![]() He has appeared on 60 Minutes, and was mentioned in the Encyclopedia Brittanica, after winning the largest cash-prize slam ever, judged by Gary Snyder. He was the first Knoxville Grand Slam Champion in 1998, and defended his title in 1999 before retiring from slam. Roop has been published in Poetry Nation, Burnt, Omnivore, Acorn, and Will Work for Peace. He was nominated for a 1999 Pushcart Prize.
